Hi Bill, and thanks so much for listening.

To say life’s been a bit of a struggle lately would be an understatement, but I’m doing what I can to polish up what’s left of the novel to make sure it meets everyone’s expectations.

I realize it’s been a long time between posts…I’m actually trying to get far enough ahead on the written part so I can be a little more consistent in posting. Something soon will be coming, though.

As for Podiobooks.com, I can kind of understand their viewpoint when it comes to wanting completed/consistently updated books. I mean, I know how frustrating it can be, subscribing there and having to wait a week or two between episode updates. Factor in that there’s no commentary from the author concerning *when* the next episode will be, and the frustration just builds from there.

I am glad though that you went back through the ‘Mevio’ feed to listen to the commentary. Like you, I do enjoy the ‘jibber jab’ at the beginning/end of each episode, which in my opinion sets a podcast novel apart from other audiobook formats. It adds a level of personality to the book that you can’t get from a standard book on tape.

Again, thank you so much for your continued listening, patience, and eagerness to hear more about this little world I’ve created. It’s fans like you who make this all worthwhile.

I’m flattered and very honoured that you would equate me to the writing of Nathan Lowell. Actually, I’m a huge fan of his work too. I’ve listened to every one of his ‘Golden Age’ books, and he’s been a real inspiration to me both on ‘Outcast’ and an upcoming project I’ve been working on.

And not to worry; the story is continuing despite life throwing up its usual share of obstacles and the like. Oh, and the 7th Son guy? JC Hutchins.

and I admire your choice to not push for podiobooks.com releases. I’ve never understood many of their rules: as if authors have no lives. LOL. Well I know how chaotic life can get and I’ll patiently await episode 19. though I hope not to have to wait until you’ve completed all of your recordings.

In fact since finding your site I’ve re-listened to all of “Outcast” this time with extras that podiobooks so abhors and I as a fellow creative and artist adore to the most.

But regardless of “when” we’ll get to experience “Outcast”‘s next episode & set of chapters: I eagerly await seeing more of the world you’ve created and have so gracefully shared with us all.

Your story is one of, if not THE best podcast I have heard. I travel quite a bit, and have listened to Sigler, Morris, and 7th Son Trilogy (name eludes me at moment) among many many others. My personal favorite, Nathan Lowells is where I equate your podcast as well. Keep up the progress and hope to hear the conclusion of this story!

I was actually thinking of putting together a FAQ/Appendix episode for the end of ‘Outcast’ when the novel’s done, and spending some time fielding questions like this in it. It’s actually great to hear that some people out there have questions like this, because it gives me a chance to really open up the ‘Outcast’ universe to people, as well as help me answer questions about it that I didn’t even know I had. (if that makes any sense )

Loved the feedback ep’s – keep them coming. I was wondering if you might do a FAQ session. Some of my questions would be:
1. Age – you mention kitten and cub frequently. Does that equate to something like baby-toddler (kitten), pre-teen for cubs? What are the relative years – do these guys grow faster (like our earthly big cats), or age more like humans?
2. Cross-breeds – now that the love interest is becoming more stable (I hope, please…please), can they have kittens? Does one gene pool override the other? Are there half-breeds that we don’t know about yet?
3. Prehistory – You’ve mentioned humans and we are not on Earth. Do their ancestors come from Earth?

I’m as curious as a cat…keep us posted!

Don’t let that kind of stuff get you down. I’d be willing to say any true fans will stay with you through the month long posting gaps; I have. You have a good reason for not updating. Your life should come before this, you deserve it to yourself.

And if you still need cheering up remember, with each unsubscriber you distill your fan base to truer and truer fans. The internet is somewhere where quality matters over quantity (except twitter, where everyone is a follower whore).

Do this because you like it. Realize that if other people don’t like it, it isn’t your fault. You aren’t selling a product, you don’t have deadlines, you don’t have to meet any goals but your own. And if it is causing you unneeded stress, put it aside for a bit. I’m sad when I check and see no new updates, but I’m not going to leave over it. I still want to know how the story will end

I have really enjoyed listening to Outcast and I will be waiting impatiently on more episodes. I usually do not start listening to an uncompleted story because I like to listen day and night until finnished but this story intrigued me to start listening in the hope of more episodes soon. I completely understand that life can get in the way of writing, reading, editing and putting an episode online. Life and work needs to come in first line.
Sending inspiration your way for words to form more episodes.

Don’t worry about it! What you and other podcasters do is greatly appreciated by most listeners. Those that complain when an episode is late are just frustrated that they can’t listen to their favourite story when they expect to. They could show some understanding of the hard work you put into writing and podcasting the story and remember the fact that you are doing this for free.

also this is the Zainab you mentioned in your feedback episode. I just wanted to clear something up…Zainab is my real name! It’s not an alias! I’m a girl! eek!
OK that aside, I really really enjoyed the last episode. I won’t get into details in case I spoil someone but I’m having loads of fun with everything your doing. Don’t apologize about lack of updates!
I just wanted to add that your novel has helped turn me onto the world of sci-fi novels. I never thought that I’d be into something like that, but I am! Astonishing, really considering I used to scoff at Trekkies and Star-Nerds all the time. Oh no, looks like I’m biting back those words…
also if you want ANY help for recording female voices (you do a splendid job of narrating though) do email me! I’m somewhat of an amateur of voice-acting but I sure do love it.

Chris, i have to say i am amazed at this story. i found it on podiobooks and am so glad that i did. this is one of the best stories i have listened to in a long time. I mostly listen to short stories, the kind the fit into a single mp3 file. i am very glad i took the time to download your story. amazing to say the least. I can definitively say that i am hooked and can be considered an Outcast. However, i need to know is there more after chapter 13? after listening to it, i get the feeling that there is so much more to be told.

other than that i wanted to say thank you for the entertainment and for bringing this story to life.

Great book! I’m up to episode 5 through podiobooks.com. episode 5 is a little messed up. Sounds like a sample rate problem? Anyway hops skips & jumps. Unlistenable. Would’ve posted this to podiobooks but commentary for your book not enabled for some reason. Episodes 6 & 7 don’t seem to be effected. Thanks for your good work.

No problem at all, I’m just a bit frustrated (which I suppose is a good sign) because I was enjoying it so much. There is a lot of content on Podiobooks.com but sadly most of it is really substandard stuff. It has given me a new appreciation of how difficult it must be for agents and publishers who are sent unusable material all the time. At any rate, it can be quite a chore trawling through the stories trying to find something decent so, a good story is quite a bonus.

I just finished listening to the latest episode, and I have to say I’m so impressed and entrhalled with your story. I’ve never ever been into the ‘furry’ fandom, and don’t believe I’ll be in the forseeable future, but this book is /great/. And to know now that it helped change someone’s life so drastically- great job!!
