‘Outcast’ is the story of young Dalan Kalamar. Born into an aristocratic family or Clan on his home world of Bengalis, Dalan is nearly killed by a group of thieves and ends up losing an artifact entrusted to him by his father.
Dalan spends a year in a coma while doctors frantically try to rebuild his mutilated limbs, and when he finally wakes up he finds that not only is he whole once more, but he’s stronger…faster…if a little uncoordinated.
Upon returning home, it’s not to a relieved family, but to a trail for losing the artifact. However, instead of a called-for execution, his father chooses a much slower death for his son: Exile.
Cast out from the only society he knows, Dalan is forced to confront the cold, hard reality of his situation, and now must live among a class of citizen hated by both Clan and non-Clan societies.
He does find some light though in this darkness: a fellow exile with whom he falls in love. Now he’s torn between simply leaving it all behind to be with her…
Or to work at regaining his family honor…regardless of how bloody a trail he has to leave…
